Chianti and Surroundings

The Chianti Area, taking its name from the Chianti hills, where the world famous wine is produced, covers an important zone in the very heart of Tuscany, embracing a number of important cities of the region. As the capital of Tuscany and a focal point regarding ancient and modern art, Florence offers not only cultural attractions, as the visible monuments along the streets and in the historical centre throughout the artistic goods collected in museums and galleries, but as well a wide range of gastronomic references, and a colourful night-life, full of people riding bikes, sitting and drinking wine and enjoying Italian life. In Siena, beside the world famous Palio, which sees a representing man of each city's different section riding a horse for the prestigious victory, there are some wine and gastronomic tastings to undertake, as the region is known for its wine and extra virgin olive oil production. Last but not least, the Chianti Area hosts one of the most attractive medieval towns, as Arezzo: Here lots of music festivals take part, inviting important national and foreigner artists, and, as a result, Arezzo is becoming more and more an important reference point for musical events throughout the year.
